Do you like to go all out on the 4th, enjoying every barbecue, festival, parade and fireworks display you can find? Maybe you like to keep things low-key and just find somewhere quiet to enjoy a nearby fireworks show. Either way, we've got you covered! Our list of independence Day celebrations in El Paso County for 2016 is at the ready.
Memorial Park, Colorado Springs

- Location: Memorial Park
One of the biggest and longest running fireworks shows in town takes place at Memorial Park in connection with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic. Activities and concessions will begin at 5:30. It might be wise to pack a picnic and grab your spot early, because this park fills up fast. It's worth it!
Monument
Tri-Lakes 4th of July Celebration
- Date: July 4
- Location: Downtown Monument during the day and Palmer Lake for the fireworks show
This is an awesome, all day event, starting early with a pancake breakfast, fun run, parade, street fair, multiple concerts, and ending with a fabulous Fireworks display in Palmer Lake. The event is free, but if you head up to Palmer Lake for the fireworks, expect to pay for parking.
Manitou Springs
- Date: July 4
- Location: Higginbotham Flats
The Manitou Springs Volunteer Fire Department is hosting the town's 4th of July display again this year. The show will start at 8:30pm and the best view will be downtown Manitou Springs, at Higginbotham Flats.
Fort Carson
4th on the 3rd Star Spangled Salute
- Date: July 3
- Location: Iron Horse Park
Head down to Fort Carson's Iron Horse Park starting at 4pm to enjoy live music, family activities, food vendors, and more. Free to the public, but check the website for instructions on entering Fort Carson.
Rock Ledge Ranch
Rock Ledge Ranch Family Fourth
Dive into a little history this year at the Rock Ledge Ranch. Visitors can walk through the reenactment of a revolutionary war camp, hear a reading of the Declaration of Independence, listen to President Abraham Lincoln give the Gettysburg Address, play carnival games and more.
